Happy Friday, and welcome to another Recruiting Roundup.
I caught up with several prospects in the 2020 class over the past week, as you have probably seen on the site. Several of my conversations with recruits were not long enough to turn into stories, so I figured I’d throw those conversations together and make it a Recruiting Roundup.
Without further ado, here you go.
2 in-state WRs give visit plans
We have brought you some news in previous Recruiting Roundups of 3-star in-state wide receiver Ian Stewart. We are continuing that trend once again.
I spoke with the 6-foot-3, 200-pounder from Rockwood over the past week, and he told me he plans on visiting Michigan “sometime in January.”
Stewart was in Ann Arbor in November to see Michigan defeat Indiana, and he spoke highly of that visit, too. This will be yet another opportunity for head recruiter Sherrone Moore and interim wide receivers coach Ben McDaniels to lock down a solid player in the state of Michigan in the 2020 class.
The second in-state wideout to plan trips to Ann Arbor is 3-star Devell Washington.
Click here if you missed my article from yesterday and want the full update. Nevertheless, Washington told me he is planning to visit Ann Arbor for a Michigan hoops game “in the near future.”
“I want to get back to campus though. I really miss that atmosphere in Ann Arbor,” he said.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder from Bay City is also planning to visit Michigan for its spring game in April.
These two guys will be near the top of Michigan’s list of in-state 2020 players, so keep your eye out for these two moving forward.
Harbaugh visits with 4-star WR
If you are seeing a trend of wide receivers planning visits to Michigan, your eyes are not deceiving you.
I recently caught up with 2020 4-star wide receiver Mike Wyman, and he told me he was never able to make it to Ann Arbor this past season for a football like, as he originally hoped. However, he did get a chance to meet with head coach Jim Harbaugh in Wyman’s home state of North Carolina, as evidenced below.
“It was great,” he said of his time with Harbaugh. “(Michigan is) definitely one of my tops.”
Moving forward, Wyman is planning to visit Michigan “soon.”
The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder from Greensboro, North Carolina is the No. 26 wide receiver and No. 131 overall player in his class. He also holds other offers from programs like Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, Michigan State and others.
In-state ATH locks in U-M visit for later this month
Lastly, let’s get to another in-state name you should remember.
2020 3-star athlete Maliq Carr has offers from several big schools, including Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Penn State.
Carr told me this past week he is planning to visit Michigan Saturday, Jan. 26. He also told me he is looking to narrow down his list of top schools in the summer.
The 6-foot-6, 215-pounder from Oak Park is being mostly recruited by tight ends coach Sherrone Moore, so it appears the Wolverines would want Carr at the tight end position. He is listed as a wide receiver on 247Sports, but we have seen Michigan go get guys and convert them to play different positions before. Time will tell on this recruitment.
That’s all for this week. Tune back in Monday for more crootin’ news.
