Welcome in to another Friday Recruiting Roundup.
The Michigan coaching staff, who added a member this week, has been hard at work on the road visiting with recruits, and even offering some others. Let’s check in on what’s be going on over the last few days.
Ed Warinner visits with top OL target, offers another
In case you missed it late last night, Michigan offensive line coach Ed Warinner tweeted out he was in the state of Colorado visiting with recruits.
A couple of those guys reside in not only the same state, but also the same city — 4-star Andrew Gentry and 3-star Roger Rosengarten.
Gentry already had an offer from Michigan, so Warinner swung through Columbine High School to check in on the 6-foot-8, 290-pounder. One of the main things discussed was a potential future visit.
“I’m not 100 percent sure yet (when the visit would be), but definitely soon,” Gentry told Maize n Brew Thursday night.
Rosengarten, meanwhile, comes from Valor Christian, the same school Michigan quarterback Dylan McCaffrey came out of.
Blessed to say I have received an offer to play football at the University of Michigan. Huge thanks to @CoachJim4UM @4Warinner @_b_blanes and the rest of the staff for this opportunity〽️#GoBlue #AnnArbor #Big10 @GoValorFootball @valorsportsnet pic.twitter.com/71G1d8fI1R

As of now, Rosengarten holds offers from Michigan, Oklahoma State, Utah, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri and others.
It looks like Warinner had a busy Thursday. We will certainly have to wait and see how this all plays out.
Gattis, Moore visit 2020 Alabama commit
Michigan offensive coordinator Josh Gattis has wasted no time trying to have some of the recruits he was communicating with at Alabama open their mind to the Wolverines.
One of those recruits is Alabama 4-star wide receiver commit Javon Baker. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound recruit from Fairburn, Georgia was visited by Gattis and tight ends coach Sherrone Moore on Wednesday, according to The Michigan Insider’s Steve Lorenz ($).
Baker was being recruited by Chris Partridge by Michigan before Gattis came to town. It is an easy assumption to say both Michigan coaches will lead the charge in this recruitment moving forward. Expect Michigan to push for Baker’s services even harder now that Gattis is a factor here.
2022 DE offered by Don Brown
Players in the 2022 class are a long ways away from being able to sign their letter of intent and prepare for college, but Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown doesn’t care.
Brown and head coach Jim Harbaugh offered a scholarship to 2022 defensive end Wilfredo Aybar.
“This being my first scholarship offer is an honor,” Aybar told TMI’s Brice Marich ($). “It’s my first year at Cheshire Academy, but where I’m from (Fall River, Massachusetts) not too many kids get the opportunity to play Division 1 football. This is an extremely humbling time for me. I am thankful for the offer. Go Blue.”
One thing Aybar likes about Michigan so far is the fact a lot of kids from his area go there.
“It’s pretty cool knowing that a bunch of kids from the New England area are going there,” he said. “Coach Brown is highly respected out here since he is from Massachusetts. Tarik Black is someone to look up to since we come from the same school and head coach. It would be cool hearing his experience there at Michigan.”
OSU de-commitment looking at U-M
2020 4-star cornerback Lejond Cavazos committed to Ohio State back in June, but Urban Meyer retiring from coaching forced Cavazos to open up his recruitment again.
Even though the Buckeyes continue to recruit him, Michigan has also started to ramp up recruiting the 6-foot, 186-pounder from the IMG Academy in Brandenton, Florida.
Cavazos spoke to 247Sports’ John Garcia ($) and admitted 2019 cornerback DJ Turner, a Michigan signee, was in his ear all the time about the Maize and Blue.
“Even when I was committed to Ohio State, DJ used to always tell me, ‘fool, you’re not going there’,” Cavazos said. “Word for word. He would say that every day.”
Despite Cavazos once being committed to Ohio State and calling Michigan “That Team Up North,” he is “going to take a look” into the program.
“But now I’m actually going to take a look at them because (Turner is) about to be there and they don’t really have that many (cornerbacks) there,” he said. “I could go in there and have a really good impact because I know DJ (will). I feel like he could start next season.”
That’s it for this week! Check back on Monday for more Michigan recruiting news.
