One of Michigan’s top targets along the defensive line is Virginia 4-star Antwaun Powell, who recently visited campus. That visit apparently went well, as he included the Wolverines in his top eight schools, which he released on Twitter Wednesday night.

Michigan is joined by Duke, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State and Virginia Tech. Powell clearly values academics, which should certainly help Michigan’s case.
Also helping Michigan’s case is the fact he has already schedule an official visit for June 21, a date everyone should start keeping in mind. This indicates the Wolverines are in at least the upper half of this list, if not at the top.
Oklahoma, where he has an official visit scheduled for this weekend, and Virginia Tech seem to be the main contenders.
When he visited, Powell was a 3-star, but soon after, the 6-foot-3, 234-pounder enjoyed a nice bump in the rankings. He shot up more than 250 spots and now sits at 247th in the country and 12th at weak-side defensive end.
