2020 3-star DE Deontae Craig puts Michigan in top group

Another 2020 target is still considering Michigan.

One of Michigan’s several targets along the defensive line, 3-star Deontae Craig, recently included the Wolverines in his top eight, which is packed with fellow Big Ten schools.

Joining Michigan in the top group is Ohio State, Michigan State, Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue, and the lone SEC school, Tennessee. Notably missing from the Indiana native’s top group is Notre Dame, despite him holding an offer from the Irish.

Craig visited for the Wisconsin game last fall, but wasn’t offered. His patience was rewarded in February when the coaches gave him a scholarship offer on another trip to campus.

As a junior, Craig racked up 41 tackles, with nine TFLs, five sacks and a forced fumble. At 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, he has plenty of room on his frame to grow.

Ranked No. 566 in the country and 26th among strong-side defensive ends, Craig looks to be a solid backup option as Michigan pursues higher targets on their board, including 4-stars Braiden McGregor and Antwaun Powell. But still being involved with a solid player like this is a good sign that Craig is still highly interested in the Wolverines.

There are no crystal ball predictions for Craig yet. Watch his junior highlights below:
