Prospects across the nation continue to hold Michigan in high regard when forming their lists of top schools. Utah 3-star defensive end Van Fillinger included the Wolverines in his top six list recently.

Fillinger’s six-pack of schools contains Michigan, Texas, Utah, Oregon, UCLA and Ohio State. Michigan holds eight of nine crystal balls, but the last prediction went to cloudy as it became less clear if Fillinger was a take for the staff or not.
While he grew up a big Michigan fan, Fillinger hadn’t made it to campus until May. Going into the trip it seemed possible he could commit, but instead it seems the staff may have slow-played him.
While listed as a strong-side defensive end, at 6-foot-3.5, 250 pounds and given he plays there for his high school, it has been proposed Fillinger could grow into a future defensive tackle down the road.
This makes it confusing why the staff isn’t pushing too hard considering the lack of recruits at the position that are on the board right now, but there’s still clearly enough interest for the Wolverines to be included in his list. We’ll see where this recruitment goes. If the staff pushes hard again, he could easily be wearing the Maize and Blue next year.
