Even though the Michigan Wolverines were unable to secure a commitment from 2019 4-star defensive end George Karlaftis, they are off to a good start with his younger brother.

2021 4-star linebacker Yanni Karlaftis visited Ann Arbor last weekend for the annual BBQ at the Big House.

“It was really fun,” Karlaftis told Maize n Brew. “I got to meet a lot of coaches, got to go around the facility and got to eat and hang out.”

The 6-foot-3, 203-pounder from West Lafayette, Indiana said he “pretty much talked to most of the coaches for a bit,” but is specifically close with head coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive line coach Shaun Nua.

The younger Karlaftis also broke down what he likes most about Michigan.

“(Michigan is) a really, really good school, and they have really good coaches, and a very good overall program,” he said.

Karlaftis remains most interested in Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Purdue and Boston College, making previous visits to OSU and Purdue.

Lastly, Karlaftis mentioned he will “most likely” be back in Ann Arbor for a game this fall, although the specific plans have not yet been finalized.

Karlaftis is the No. 9 outside linebacker, No. 2 player from Indiana and No. 111 overall player in the 2021 class, according to 247Sports’ composite.
