Welcome back in to another Monday Michigan Recruiting Roundup. Today we have interviews with two highly touted QB recruits, one of which has committed, and another Michigan sure would like to land. Let’s roll!
McCarthy recaps visit to Big House with MnB
We spoke with Michigan commit, 5-star QB J.J. McCarthy, who was at the game on Saturday. The game was McCarthy’s first at The Big House, an experience he thought “was incredible”. McCarthy thinks Michigan has “loyal, dedicated fans” and that “Go Blue Nation is insane!”
McCarthy says that being in Ann Arbor has “felt like home” since he committed in May, but that “every visit gets better and better”. A surreal moment occurred for McCarthy after the game when he was walking to the car. Kids asked McCarthy for his autograph. “That was was a holy cow moment,” McCarthy said. “Can’t wait to play at this school!”
McCarthy posted a picture with Jim Harbaugh in front of a picture of Tom Brady and Harbaugh, a spontaneous occurrence that both Harbaugh and McCarthy got a kick out of.

Marchiol recaps Michigan visit with MnB
We also caught up with Aurora (Colo.) Regis Jesuit 2022 quarterback Nicco Marchiol about his visit to Michigan over the weekend, a visit he said was “so much fun” and that “it’s always a blast to be in Ann Arbor.”
Marchiol said he was at the game all day, and then caught up with both Shea Patterson and Dylan McCaffrey afterwards. “They have both been family friends for a long time,” Marchiol said.
Marchiol and Patterson talked about the game and how it went, with Patterson telling him there was room for improvement, but was happy they got the win. His conversation with McCaffrey focused on their history in youth football in Colorado, where Nicco’s father and Dylan’s dad would face off.
“Dylan and I’s families are two of the most competitive families in the world,” Marchiol said, also noting that “Dylan is such a cool dude to be around. And I see very good leadership traits in him. He is definitely a good role model for me.”
Marchiol said that his season is going well, his team is 2-0 currently. The 6-foot-2 Marchiol is a 4-star prospect and No. 72 overall in the 2022 class, according to 247 Sports, who also ranks him as the No. 2 pro style QB and No. 2 overall recruit in Colorado. Landing Marchiol would be a big get for U-M, but it’s going to take more time before he announces where he’ll be playing college ball.
Spindler’s visit a hit with his parents
Clarkston (Mich.) 2021 four-star lineman Rocco Spindler spoke with Brice Marich ($) about his visit latest visit to Michigan, one that focused on his parents experience, saying that “it was definitely their recruiting trip and they loved it.” Spindler said that they his parents want to make sure he’s taken care of when they’re not around and believe Michigan would indeed take care of him. Spindler said he really thinks his parents love it at Michigan.
Spindler, the No. 40 overall prospect in the 2021 class, the No. 7 OT overall, and the No. 2 player in Michigan, plans to head back to The Big House when Michigan takes on Notre Dame and Ohio State.
