Since the ACC football season started, Michigan has been trying to poach recruits from a floundering Florida State team. The prospect that seemed the most likely to flip to Michigan was four-star cornerback Omarion Cooper.
However, after decommitting from the Seminoles earlier this week, former top linebacker target Branden Jennings quickly became another likely option.
The top-100 linebacker from Jacksonville, Florida isn’t wasting time in choosing his next destination. He told 247Sports’ National Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong that he had narrowed his options down to Michigan, Clemson, and Miami.
Jennings also told Wiltfong that he would be announcing his decision on Friday, October 16th. In response to that news, several Crystal Balls came in for the Wolverines. The Crystal Balls have varying levels of confidence, spanning a 3 from Wiltfong to a 9 from Florida State insider Chris Nee.
With how quickly this recruitment is moving, anything could change in an instant, but for now it looks like Michigan is in an excellent spot to grab their fourth linebacker and top-100 commit in the 2021 class. If you’ll recall, Michigan’s last linebacker who was a Florida State legacy turned out pretty well.
Stay tuned to Maize n Brew for more coverage of Jennings’ announcement.
