The Michigan Wolverines missed out on a chance to land their first commit of the 2022 class since September, as four-star safety Isaac Thompson just verbally committed Missouri over the Wolverines.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder from St. Louis, Missouri was a longtime top target for Michigan at his position. However, the buzz over the last 24 hours was that a big momentum shift had occurred that swung his recruitment back into the favor of the in-state Tigers. It remains unclear how big a factor the current uncertainly with the situation at Michigan was, but it may have played a role.
Thompson is the No. 157 overall player on the composite rankings. Michigan will now turn its attention elsewhere to bolster the defensive backfield in the 2022 class, which could feature a pair of five-star targets at corner in Will Johnson and Domani Jackson. Still, how 2022 recruits react to the current state of affairs is worth watching moving forward.
