More and more recruiting visits are being planned out for the spring, which is always a very busy time of the year for the Michigan coaching staff. On today’s roundup, we will talk about some guys who either have visits planned, or are looking to visit soon.

Two 2021 four-star TEs visiting this weekend

According to 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong ($), 2021 four-star tight end Jack Pugh is slated to visit Ann Arbor this weekend.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder from Hilliard, Ohio doesn’t hold an offer from Michigan, but that likely will change after the weekend.

Pugh visited Wisconsin last weekend, and the Badgers seem to be one of the programs at the top of his list. Penn State and Iowa State have also done a good job in this recruitment. The hometown team Ohio State, like the Wolverines, have not offered yet.

Pugh will also be joined by another four-star tight end — California native Brock Bowers.

The Wolverines are in it for a ton of highly ranked tight ends in the 2021 class, as described more in depth in our target board series. Even if they are a bit behind in Pugh’s recruitment, they can still catch up if things don’t go as planned with the other tight ends on their board. We will likely know more after the weekend, so stay tuned.

West Coast four-star OL could visit U-M in spring

According to 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman (FREE), 2021 four-star offensive lineman Owen Prentice is mapping out his spring visits, and Michigan may be a school he gets to.

“I haven’t visited any schools yet (this spring) but I will be visiting Oklahoma towards the end of March and I might try and get out to LSU and some more programs in the Midwest,” Prentice said.

The Seattle native camped with Michigan last summer, and the offer from the Wolverines is one that stands out to him, he told Huffman.

At this point, Michigan is going after a few other guys along the offensive line in 2021. If something were to go wrong with a guy like Rocco Spindler, maybe Ed Warinner and company turn up the heat in recruiting Prentice. But until/if that happens, I don’t think the Wolverines will be too much of a factor here.

Prentice is the No. 212 overall player in the class and the No. 10 offensive guard on 247Sports’ composite. As of now, 75 percent of the crystal balls are in favor of the hometown school Washington.

2021 four-star DE planning visit after landing offer

A guy just offered by Michigan this week is 2021 four-star defensive end Derek Wilkins. The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder hails from Rancho Santa Margarita, California, and has offers from schools like Washington, Stanford, Oregon, Washington State, Cal, Northwestern, Mississippi State and more.

Wilkins spoke to The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($) about the offer and his interest in the program. Wilkins is a high-academic kid, so getting an offer from Michigan would give him the best of both worlds.

“Very interested,” Wilkins said. “Again academics is huge for me, so that’s a big part of it, as well as some big time football, you can’t beat the mix of those two things.”

Now with the offer in hand, he is hoping to get a trip in to Ann Arbor.

“Yes I do (plan on visiting Michigan), I’m not 100% sure (when) yet,” Wilkins said. “I hope to learn about all the school has to offer, as well as check out some things such as the Big House.”

Wilkins has trips planned at the end of March to Stanford and Boston College. Perhaps he can swing by Ann Arbor after his trip to Boston College. Regardless of when it is, we will update you right here on Maize n Brew.

That’s all for this week! Come back on Tuesday for another roundup.
