2022 four-star RB Arlen Harris Jr. details ‘genuine and authentic’ conversation with Jim and Jay Harbaugh

Maize n Brew talks with Harris about his Michigan offer, more.

The Michigan Wolverines sent out an offer to one of the top running backs in the 2022 class this week, Saint Peters (Mo.) Lutheran of St Charles County’s Arlen Harris Jr. The Missouri native is currently ranked as the No. 15 RB and No. 111 prospect overall in his class.

Harris Jr. spoke with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and running backs coach/special teams coordinator Jay Harbaugh on the phone, a chat that left a good impression on Arlen and his family. “When we talked over the phone it was amazing. The coaches talked to me like I was already on the team. They told me how high they were on me and what Michigan football is like,” Harris told Maize n Brew.

Harris went on to tell MnB that the Harbaugh’s were clear that they were “big” on him and are going to keep in touch. “They were definitely being genuine and authentic,” Harris said. “They liked that I can perform at a high level on the field but also carry that into the classroom. They told me how they know I am a good person.”

Something that really stood out to Harris was Jay and Jim interacting with his family and not just him. “They loved the coaches,” Harris said. “They weren’t awkward on the phone or anything. They talked and had genuine conversations with them.”

How does Harris describe himself as a player? “I am a leader and a team player. I am not a me player, and I will do what needs to be done for my team. My skill set is being a smart and complete running back,” Harris said.

While Harris Jr. currently holds 17 offers, he named Michigan, Iowa, Notre Dame, Kentucky, and Penn State as the programs that are ahead of the rest at the moment.
