Michigan has recently expressed interest in a vertical threat from Portland, Oregon. 6-foot-3, four-star receiver Darrius Clemons is the No. 1 receiver from Oregon in the 2022 class and No. 18 WR overall.
Clemons recently talked with Michigan offensive coordinator Josh Gattis on the phone after receiving an offer from the Wolverines. “He seemed really down to earth and interested in me as a person,” Clemons told Maize n Brew.
There’s a lot to like about Clemons game, and Gattis shared some of the traits that caught his eye. “He said he liked that I was a bigger, physical receiver that blocked well,” Clemons said.
Clemons has checked out film of Michigan’s offense and believes the scheme would fit his skill-set well. “I think it would compliment me as a player considering I make bigger physical receiver and they run a lot of pro sets,” Clemons said. Clemons noted that he believes his biggest strengths currently are blocking and being able to get vertical, while he thinks he can improve his lateral and short area quickness.
The next step for Clemons and his relationship with Michigan will be getting on campus and becoming more familiar with the coaching staff.
