Michigan five-star QB commit J.J. McCarthy makes Elite 11 finals

The competition begins June 29.

Future Michigan Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy, a five-star prospect in the 2021 class, officially made this year’s Elite 11 finals, as announced on Twitter Friday afternoon.

McCarthy also tweeted his excitement for making the finals:

Other elite quarterback prospects joining McCarthy include four-star Miller Moss (USC), five-star Kyle McCord (Ohio State), five-star Tyler Buchner (Notre Dame), five-star Caleb Williams (uncommitted) and more.

The Elite 11 “will bring together top performers to receive advanced, one-on-one quarterback instruction in a highly competitive setting. (It) will span three days and include on-field drills, routes-on-air, classroom instruction and off-field development. The Elite 11 will be named at the conclusion of The Elite 11 Finals,” according to their website. They are also the “nation’s premier quarterback competition,” according to their Twitter page.

The Elite 11 dates back to 1999. Some notable quarterbacks who have participated in the past includes Matt Leinart (2000), Vince Young (2001), Tim Tebow (2005), Matthew Stafford (2005), Deshaun Watson (2013) and plenty more.

The last U-M quarterback to participate was redshirt freshman Cade McNamara in 2018.

This year’s Elite 11 Finals is scheduled for June 29-July 1 in Nashville, Tennessee.
