2021 four-star OL Garrett Dellinger commits to LSU over Michigan

The first of the two highly-ranked in-state offensive linemen in the 2021 class has made his decision.

One of the two elite offensive lineman from Clarkston High School has made his commitment, as 2021 four-star Garrett Dellinger announced his pledge to LSU on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder released a top four earlier this month of Michigan, LSU, Ohio State and Penn State. At the time, 100 percent of the crystal ball predictions were in on LSU, and those predictions obviously never wavered.

At the end of the day, this was the expected outcome and should not be viewed as a huge loss for Michigan, despite Dellinger being a top 100 player in the state of Michigan. The Wolverines already have four offensive linemen committed in 2021 with several guys left on the board. If Dellinger were a defensive lineman, I’d be a lot more worried.

Michigan will continue to go after a few other offensive linemen in this class, including Dellinger’s teammate, four-star Rocco Spindler. Other targets include four-star guard Drew Kendall and five-star tackle Nolan Rucci, albeit a pipe dream for Rucci at this point.

The Wolverines currently have four offensive linemen committed in 2021 — four-star tackle Giovanni El-Hadi, four-star center Raheem Anderson, four-star guard/center Greg Crippen and three-star tackle Tristan Bounds.
