With just one tight end committed in 2021, the Michigan Wolverines may look to take a couple in the 2022 class. Thankfully for Sherrone Moore and company, they look to be in a good spot with a handful in the class already.
One potential top target at the position for Michigan is four-star Jaleel Skinner. The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder hails from Greer, South Carolina and is in the top 100 on the 2022 composite rankings on 247Sports. He holds offers from some of college football’s best — Michigan, Georgia, Penn State, Oregon, Florida, Florida State, LSU and more — and is looking like one of the top options in his class already.
Skinner landed his offer from Michigan last week, and he has already begun forming a relationship with Moore.
“(The conversations) are going great, I really enjoy talking to him,” Skinner told Maize n Brew. “I talk to him 2-3 times a week.”
As Jon Simmons wrote about in Tuesday’s Recruiting Roundup, Skinner has also had the opportunity to chat with five-star quarterback J.J. McCarthy, Michigan’s top commit in 2021.
“I am very interested in Michigan,” Skinner told The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($). “Knowing that (McCarthy’s) going there gets me pumped knowing that if I went there, then I know I would have someone to throw me the ball. I have watched his highlights and he is just a straight baller out there.”
Michigan is in a good spot early on for some of the top tight ends in the 2022 class. Along with Skinner, Moore is consistently talking with four-star Donovan Green, as well as three-star Marlin Klein. Skinner’s interest in Michigan seems very real, especially after getting his offer, so look for the Wolverines to continue recruiting him moving forward.
Skinner is the No. 3 tight end and the No. 99 overall player on the composite. Check out some of his highlights from last season below.
