On Tuesday morning, Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines received their third commitment of the 2022 cycle when three-star tight end Marlin Klein announced his pledge to the Maize and Blue.

The 6-foot-6, 215-pounder is originally from Germany, but plays his high school ball in Rabun Gap, Georgia. He chose Michigan over other offers from Georgia, Florida State, Nebraska, Michigan State, Colorado, Purdue, TCU, West Virginia and more.
The Wolverines offered a scholarship to Klein in April and have been at the forefront of his recruitment since then. He took an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor a couple weeks ago on his own dime during a global pandemic, which in my eyes went a long way in proving his interest in the program. He must’ve seen enough from the one visit to make up his mind and secure a spot in the class.
The Wolverines are likely looking to take two tight ends in 2022, as they have not taken in more than one since the 2018 class. Now with Klein on board, Sherrone Moore can now focus on a couple elite tight end prospects to round out the class — four-stars Donovan Green and Jaleel Skinner. They are also in it for three-star Micah Riley and unranked prospect Oscar Delp.
Michigan’s 2022 class now has three commitments — Klein, in-state four-star defensive tackle Alex VanSumeren and four-star linebacker Tyler Martin. The class is now ranked No. 6 on the 247Sports composite rankings.
Klein is the No. 18 ranked tight end prospect and No. 371 overall player in his class.
