In a surprise development, 2021 three-star wide receiver Markus Allen announced his decommittment from Michigan this afternoon.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound receiver had been committed to the Wolverines since April 28 after being offered in early February. He wasn’t considered a flight risk until now.

Michigan still has three wide receivers in the class in four-stars Xavier Worthy and Cristian Dixon and three-star Andrel Anthony. It’s not clear yet if Michigan will seek to replace Allen with another receiver in the class, but could turn up the heat on four-stars Jayden Thomas and Titus Mokiao-Atimalala.

Allen is teammates with three-star safety commit Rod Moore, but there is no indication if this will affect his commitment or not.

With this news, Michigan’s class falls to No. 11 in the country with 20 members. Reportedly the staff’s target number for the class is 25.
