Michigan’s latest assistant coaching hire was an interesting one, as the Wolverines pried away Maurice Linguist from the Dallas Cowboys to become their co-defensive coordinator alongside Mike Macdonald.

That news was reported on Tuesday, and even though the hire hasn’t been made official by the university just yet, Linguist has already made an impact on the recruiting trail by sending out a slew of offers Tuesday night.

As you will see, all these guys are highly-ranked and from the southern portion of the country. These kinds of offers are things you would rarely see from the previous regime, so a change in the recruiting approach has already begun in the defensive room in Ann Arbor.

Here are the guys who Linguist offered on Tuesday.

Landon Hullaby, four-star, S

One of the players Linguist offered is 2022 four-star safety Landon Hullaby. Hailing from Mansfield, Texas, the 6-foot, 185-pounder put out a top 10 list recently that included Auburn, Baylor, Cal, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Texas and TCU. His brother, Jaden, is a running back for the Longhorns.

Now that the Wolverines entered the picture, we will see if that gives him something to think about regarding his top 10 list.

Hullaby’s junior year highlights were put out on Hudl just last night, so check them out here.

Bobby Taylor, four-star, CB

Another player offered was 2022 four-star cornerback Bobby Taylor. He is also from Texas, playing his high school football at Katy High School in the city of Katy.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder has seven crystal ball predictions in favor of Texas A&M. When 247Sports writer Collin Kennedy ($) switched his crystal ball from Oklahoma to Texas A&M back on Jan. 1, he wrote the “proximity factor is real.”

Taylor has a commitment date of Feb. 24, so this seems like the biggest longshot of all the recently-offered prospects. We will see if the offer changes anything.

Jaylon Guilbeau, four-star, CB

The third and final player from the state of Texas who Linguist offered on Tuesday night is 2022 four-star cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau.

He has been committed to Texas since September, but there may be a chance for a flip thanks to the staff shakeup in Austin. The 5-foot-11.5, 175-pounder remains solid to Texas, but did tell 247Sports’ Andrew Hattersley ($) he wants to take all of his visits. If Linguist and company quickly form a solid relationship with him, perhaps Ann Arbor is added to the list of places he wants to visit.

Check out his junior year film here.

Kody Jones, four-star, ATH

The final player Linguist dished out an offer to on Tuesday evening is 2022 four-star athlete Kody Jones. Unlike the previous three players, Jones does not live in the state of Texas. The 5-foot-11.5, 180-pounder is from Germantown, Tennessee.

The “warm” teams on his 247Sports profile include Tennessee, Auburn, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. He also holds offers from Penn State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and more.

Jones is being recruited by most of the schools to play defensive back, including Michigan.

His most recent highlight tape is from his sophomore season in 2019, so go check that out by clicking here if you’d like.
