The new year has seen several Michigan targets in the 2022 class narrow down their recruitments to focus on a handful of schools. Michigan has made a bunch of these cuts, even as many 2022 recruits are in a holding pattern until the coaching staff gets figured out.
Top in-state target puts Michigan in his top ten
One of Michigan’s best pipelines in-state is at West Bloomfield, and the next big thing to come out of the school is four-star athlete Dillon Tatum. Tatum posted his top ten on Twitter on New Year’s day.

Tatum spoke to 247Sports’ Allen Trieu about his list ($).
“They all have great programs with great coaching staffs I feel like I could be a part of,” said Tatum.
Tatum included Michigan in a group of coaches with which he has the best relationship.
“Michigan State, Coach Peagler, Michigan, Coach Zordich, Penn State with Coach Seider and Coach Coombs at Ohio State,” he said.
As you can see by the coach recruiting him, it looks like Tatum is being recruited as a defensive back first by Michigan. But Tatum could also play running back at the next level and he may not decide until he gets on campus.
There are no Crystal Ball picks for Tatum yet, but this looks like it’s shaping up to be an in-state battle with Michigan State.
Three-star DE includes Michigan in top six
Michigan also made the cut for three-star edge defender Keon Wylie the day after Tatum put out his list.

Besides Michigan, Wylie included Penn State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Pitt, and Oklahoma in his top list. When speaking to 247Sports’ Brian Dohn about his finalists, his comments about Michigan stood out ($).
“They are just recruiting me hard, always texting me. That is like the school that stands out in the recruitment. I talk to their outside linebackers coach,” said Wylie.
Wylie said he doesn’t have a timeline for his decision yet, and there are no Crystal Ball picks in. As you can probably tell by his list, Wylie is a candidate to get a bump in the rankings next update.
Northwest four-star OL a top target for Michigan
Michigan’s top targets at offensive line are still developing, but it has become clear that they adore Washington four-star Malik Agbo. The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich reported that Michigan coaches are prioritizing Agbo as one of their top guys in 2022 ($).
Agbo is interested in Michigan as well, telling Marich, “I’m super interested in Michigan. What I like about them is that they work together as a team and can get the job done!”
Since committing, fellow offensive lineman Connor Jones has also been putting on his recruiting hat and talking with Agbo.
There aren’t any Crystal Ball predictions for Agbo, but the schools listed as “warm” on his 247 profile are Alabama, LSU, Oregon, Oregon State, and Washington.
