Michigan landed the cherry on top of its 2021 class on National Signing Day by adding in-state four-star defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny. Making this commitment extra sweet is the fact the Wolverines flipped Benny from in-state rival Michigan State, to whom he had been committed since early November.

The Oak Park native is listed as 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds. He sits just within the top 200 players in the country at 195th overall, and is the No. 16 defensive tackle.
Michigan led for Benny for most of the cycle until losing a stunner to Michigan State in the second game of the season. Benny committed to the Spartans soon after that, but he didn’t sign in the early signing period, giving Michigan new hope.
Once a glaring hole in the class, defensive tackle has been shored up quite well with the additions of Benny and four-star George Rooks. Three-star Ikechukwu Iwunnah is also likely to flip to Michigan from Colorado after receiving crystal ball predictions last night.
Michigan’s class now sits at 10th overall in the country and second in the Big Ten. Benny joins four-star George Rooks, four-star Kechaun Bennett, three-star TJ Guy and three-star Dominick Guidice as defensive linemen in Michigan’s 2021 class.
