Well, it hasn’t taken too long for co-defensive coordinator/cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist to land his first recruit at Michigan, as 2022 four-star safety Taylor Groves, who received his offer from Michigan on Jan. 27, announced his commitment Friday.

Groves attends East Robertson High School in Tennessee and has the same personal trainer as 2021 signee Junior Colson, which undoubtedly also helped Michigan in this race.
Other schools Groves was considering include LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
Our own Von Lozon interviewed Groves after receiving the offer, and he said his conversation with Linguist stood out among the rest.
“It was great, one of the best conversations I’ve ever had with a coach,” Groves told Maize n Brew. “He was real about everything he said, and I’m definitely a big fan of Michigan already just after that conversation.
“I think (Michigan’s) coaching staff can get me to where I want to be for my future (the NFL),” he said. “I want to win a national championship, too, and I feel like I could do that there.”
Ranked No. 242 in the country and 16th at safety, schools were split on which side of the ball they were recruiting the 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect. Groves recently told 247Sports that schools like LSU, Clemson, Alabama and Ohio State were also recruiting him as a defensive back, so that seems like his position with the highest ceiling.
Groves is the fifth member of Michigan’s 2022 class and the first at defensive back. You can check out his junior year highlights below.
