The Michigan recruiting staff is still focusing on scheduling as many visits with prospects as possible now that the recruiting dead period ending on June 1 has become official. Some players have high interest but are still trying to fit these visits into their schedule, which we’ll cover in today’s Recruiting Roundup.
Three-star DL sets official visit date
One prospect who was able to get a visit on the books is 2022 Florida three-star Hayden Schwartz. Schwartz told Maize n Brew’s Von Lozon he plans to be in Ann Arbor on the weekend of June 4.
Notably, Michigan is the only school Schwartz has made concrete plans with so far. He also said he’s still figuring out where else to officially visit. Schools likely to get a visit include Nebraska and Virginia.
Also helping Michigan is the fact that his friend and fellow Jacksonville native, 2022 three-star linebacker Micah Pollard, will also be taking an official visit that weekend. Both are top targets at their position, with all crystal balls for Pollard sitting on the Wolverines.
New CB offer says Michigan will receive official visit
One of the more recent offers Michigan has handed out is to 2022 three-star cornerback Jayden Bellamy. Bellamy plays at Bergen Catholic in New Jersey, where he is teammates with fellow cornerback target Jaeden Gould.
Despite being one of his newest offers, Bellamy told MnB’s Lozon he may take a visit to Michigan this summer.
“I think so, I plan to,” he said.
The main coach recruiting Bellamy is safeties coach Ron Bellamy (no relation), indicating that Michigan could view him as a versatile defensive back.
Bellamy already has official visits scheduled for Penn State, Notre Dame and Ohio State in June. The only open weekend in June for Bellamy to visit is June 4. Gould already has an official visit scheduled for USC that weekend, so it appears they will not be able to visit together.
Michigan to get visit from four-star RB
Another prospect who has yet to lock in his visit date but says Michigan will be included in his group is 2022 four-star running back George Pettaway, according to 247Sports’ Brian Dohn ($).
“The main three right now but I will definitely official to are Florida, Michigan and Penn State,” Pettaway revealed.
Pettaway said he is “waiting for his mom’s schedule” to figure out his dates, but this is positive concrete evidence he is highly considering Michigan after naming them as one of the schools he is in contact the most with last week.
Alabama, North Carolina and Virginia are other schools Pettaway mentioned that are high on his list. UNC has the lone crystal ball pick for the touted running back.
