On this week’s Future Brew podcast, we discuss how the addition of cornerbacks coach Steve Clinkscale could very well put Michigan at the No. 1 spot for 2022 three-star cornerback Myles Pollard.
Von: Clink was also after a guy who we’ve talked about a lot on this podcast, and that is three-star cornerback Myles Pollard, who has been very open about how much he loved the Clink hire. I thought Michigan lead before Clinkscale came to town, Jon, but now I really believe Michigan is ahead of the pack. What say you?
Jon: Yeah, definitely, I think it only improves Michigan’s stock in his eyes. I think Clinkscale is dipping his toe more into the state of Tennessee this cycle, where Pollard is from, so I think he’s gaining some more experience there. I think he really connected with Pollard and his family. Michigan was already sitting really well before Clinkscale made the move. Tt seemed like Kentucky was kinda moving up the board and was gonna make a run at him, but now that you bring Clinkscale to Michigan, it just kinda combines the appeals of both schools, and I think Pollard said that Clink was one of the coaches he had the best relationship with. So I think it’s a matter of time with Pollard. I know he’s coming up for a June visit, so he could be on commit watch there.
Von: I think so, too. When that news was official, I reached out to Myles Pollard and asked him how big this is for Michigan that they hired a coach he was familiar with. And he said it was huge and that they talk a lot. And I asked him straight up if this increased Michigan’s place on his top list, and he gave me the “shrug emoji” and said “can’t tell you yet,” so take that for what it’s worth. But I would imagine at this point in time, Michigan probably leads. Not just because of the Clink hire, but it definitely helped. Certainly something to look at moving forward, especially with his official visit coming soon.
