Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines got some late Fourth of July fireworks today, as 2022 four-star defensive end Mario Eugenio just committed to the program.

The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder from Clearwater, Florida officially visited Ann Arbor a couple weeks ago for “Victors Weekend,” along with a ton of other top targets in his class. The Monday after his visit, he tweeted he’d be committing July 5. And then three hours after that tweet, he tweeted out photos from his trip to Michigan, so it was pretty clear at that point which program was at the top for him.

This commitment will also surely assist the Wolverines with another top target of theirs — 2022 three-star in-state two-way lineman Deone Walker, who is pretty tight with Eugenio. They picked up a few crystal balls for Walker after Victors Weekend, so Eugenio’s commitment should help there as well.

The second defensive lineman to join Michigan’s 2022 class, Eugenio joins in-state three-star Davonte Miles. He is also the fourth player to commit after visiting for Victors Weekend, joining three-star running back CJ Stokes, three-star offensive lineman Alessandro Lorenzetti and in-state three-star linebacker Aaron Alexander.

Eugenio is the No. 13 edge prospect, No. 33 player from Florida and No. 282 overall player in the 2022 class, per 247Sports’ composite. He held other offers from Oregon, Iowa State, Indiana, Miami, Mississippi State, Missouri, Washington State, West Virginia and more.

As a junior in 2020, Eugenio compiled 42 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions. You can check out those highlights in the video below.
