Welcome back to this week’s Tuesday Recruiting Roundup! We’ve got some more potential visit news and an update on a five-star in the 2023 class in our packed roundup today.
Three-star safety hopes to see Michigan before commitment
After missing out on top targets at safety, Michigan has identified 2022 Florida three-star Damani Dent as the net guy on their board. Dent spoke to 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins about his recruitment that’s picking up steam ($).
“I think I’m going to be at Michigan on Sept. 11,” Dent said. “I’m talking with coach Harbaugh every day. He’s a good coach. That’s a good program.”
Dent plans on committing Oct. 10, so getting him on campus before then will be critical. Oregon also offered recently and Dent was out there for a recruiting event at the end of July, so Michigan and Oregon appear to be the top options for him at the moment.
West Coast OL also thinking about Michigan visit
Another prospect who doesn’t have firm visit plans but is likely to be on campus sometime this fall is 2022 Washington three-star offensive lineman Mark Nabou. Nabou shared his thoughts with 247Sports’ West Coast expert Brandon Huffman ($).
“I took unofficials to USC and Michigan but I’m planning on visiting them in the fall officially for sure,” said Nabou. “We’re not sure about the dates yet.”
Besides those two schools, Nabou has also taken a visit to Texas A&M. Texas and Oklahoma are also recruiting him hard, with the latter picking up steam as of late.
Reflecting on his visit to Michigan, Nabou had this to say:
“Coach (Sherrone) Moore is who is recruiting me at Michigan and he is a cool guy, I like him a lot. On that visit, I talked with coach Harbaugh and the other coaches on staff.”
Nabou said he won’t start thinking about a commitment until after he takes his visits. While he prefers offensive tackle, he admits that some schools are recruiting him as an interior lineman.
Michigan in contention for five-star WR
Michigan has long been in contention for Florida prospect Jalen Brown, who is currently ranked as the No. 3 wide receiver in the 2023 class. 247Sports’ Ivins spoke with Brown about who his top suitors are, which includes the Wolverines ($).
“Michigan is a cool place. It’s going to be a little bit of an adjustment if I were to go there, but overall I could see myself playing there,” said Brown after showing off the Michigan gloves he was wearing for his game.
Brown’s father also mentioned they are hoping to see games at Michigan and Notre Dame in October or November if they can make it work.
Local schools like Miami, Florida, and Florida State are also standing out for Brown right now in what will assuredly be a national recruitment.
