Sept. 1 is always the first day college coaches can reach out to members of the junior year recruiting class, so prospects in the 2023 class had their phones ringing off the hook at midnight last night.
One of the prospects Michigan reached out to is four-star defensive lineman AJ Hoffler. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Atlanta native saw his recruitment begin to take flight earlier this year. He has offers from Michigan, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Michigan State, Arizona State and more to his name, and is becoming a heavily-wanted player in his class.
“It went well. I just talked to (coach Ryan Osborn) about how they are on my board and other football stuff,” Hoffler told Maize n Brew Wednesday morning. “I like him a lot. He’s cool and funny and keeps it real. (The conversation) was like five minutes and he was just saying they’d love to have me go there.”
Hoffler checked out Ann Arbor earlier this summer and is now planning a return trip to see a game this fall.
“I think the Michigan/Ohio State game,” he said. “I loved it (when I went up this summer).”
He has many other options, but the schools pushing the hardest for him right now include Georgia Tech, Michigan State and Kentucky.
Hoffler is the No. 267 overall player on 247Sports’ composite for the 2023 class.
The Wolverines currently do not have any players committed to their 2023 class.
