Wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones was the most electric player on the field for the Michigan Wolverines in their 29-13 victory over the Air Force Falcons. Peoples-Jones caught two passes for 52 yards, and had an impressive 79 yard punt return touchdown in which he weaved his way through defenders.
Although Peoples-Jones is just a freshman, coach Jim Harbaugh is giving much consideration into using Peoples-Jones more often in games to come. “We’re giving a lot of thought to using Donovan in a lot of ways.” Harbaugh said at his post-game press conference.
Peoples-Jones has shown game changing elusiveness and speed, which could be highly dangerous if he proves to be a crisp route runner with steady hands. The only way to find out is to give him more snaps on offense, which sound like will be coming his way.
The Michigan offense could use an added spark, and the fact Harbaugh is praising Peoples-Jones abilities and potential shows the sincerity of wanting to get him more involved.
“Grow, grow, grow. He’s been plus, plus, plus. It’s great to see his meddle today, and I feel like great things are gonna happen for Donovan Peoples-Jones.” Harbaugh said.
People-Jones is already Michigan’s primary punt returner but could see time as a kick returner going forward, and an increased number of snaps at receiver. We will see how things shake out for him against Purdue next Saturday.
