Pep Hamilton discusses Michigan quarterbacks

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Michigan pass-game coordinator Pep Hamilton spoke to the media yesterday, and spoke about a variety of topics. Among them were comments about Michigan’s quarterbacks (Dylan McCaffrey, Joe Milton, Shea Patterson, Brandon Peters).

Hamilton said there is no pecking order right now (they’re all getting equal reps), but he did provide a bit of insight into how each quarterback has been performing to this point in camp.

Below are quotes from Hamilton about each quarterback.

Brandon Peters

How Peters has improved: “Taking command of the huddle. Making quicker, faster decisions. That’s all a result of having played in games and getting a true sense of how bad the defensive players intentions in there are of hitting the quarterback.”

Joe Milton

Said that Milton has been picking things up quickly and that “he has an extremely strong arm and he’s very athletic.”

Shea Patterson

“He’s a play-maker. Everybody gets excited when he’s out there and makes a special play, and you can feel the energy throughout our team, you can just feel it, positive energy.”

“He can extend plays with his legs, and he can make all the throws.”

“He’s spent a lot of time on his own studying the playbook before Spring ball.”

Dylan McCaffrey

“Dylan is an underrated athlete. I think Dylan is a guy that can make all the throws and can make plays with his legs.”
